Zhang Xue addresses rider withdrawal: Initial findings point to engine oil pressure drop

On May 3, during the second race of the WorldSSP category at the 2026 World Superbike Championship (WSBK) in Hungary, French rider Valentin Debise of the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Zhang Xue Racing was forced to retire. That evening, Zhang Xue responded in a video posted on social media: “It’s a pity we had to retire on the first lap. After communicating with the team, we encountered a mechanical issue. Initial checks suggest it was caused by a drop in engine oil pressure. We’ll need to disassemble the engine to identify the root cause.” He added, “That’s racing — the bike is pushed to its limit, and every brand can face such problems.”
