Aber, Oyam – Friends of Goodwill Uganda [FoG], a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation with its head office in Apac district headquarters has concluded its activity for second quarter of 2019.
The last but a unique set of activity took place in Adak parish, Aber sub-county – Oyam district, a fortnight ago – on the 5th, November, 2019.
“The only new activity was Value Base Life Skills [VBLS] were youths were taught by community development officer [CDO] of Aber sub-county on life skills topics,” Mr Tommy Okada, FoG Uganda Executive Director told TND News.
He added: “Behavioural change, making choices and inform decision in prevention of HIV/AIDS, adventure unlimited versus behaviour change, HIV/AIDS prevention strategies like voluntary medical safe male circumcision.”
According to FoG’s executive director, safe male circumcision is 60% reducing the risk of HIV infections.
Other areas youths were also trained in included; role of Post Exposure Prophylaxis – PEP within 48hours, abstinence for age below 24, being faithful to one partner when all knows the blood status, use of condom correctly and consistently for those unfaithful partners.
For discordant couples, they were trained to embrace positive living and seeking doctors’ advices.
On entrepreneurial skills, beneficiaries were trained in income generating activities for self-help livelihood, among them were making affordable, reusable and washable sanitary pads, among others.
