The managers of St Gracious Primary and Nursery school, a private school in Lira on Sunday met with parents whose pupils sat for 2018 Primary Leaving Examinations but had their results withheld by exam body – UNEB.
Their results are among 40 others withheld by Uganda National Examinations Board – UNEB over some irregularities which have since undergone investigations.
However, 24 schools whose issues were majorly non remittance of exam fees have since had their results released.
During the meeting at the school on Sunday, parents led by Lira Municipal Council Speaker, Geoffrey Bosco Ogwal told the school director, Patrick Olet and the head teacher, Leo Elem that they are patiently waiting for the results with hope that it will be released in time to allow their pupils join secondary schools.
“Our pupils are traumatized and worried about the results, we hope there will be relief soon,” a parent told the meeting.
In response, Leo Elem, the head teacher said there was nothing to worry about because the results are not being withheld for malpractice, and that investigation is almost complete and the results could be released early next week.
A total of 63 pupils sat for primary leaving examinations at St. Gracious primary and Nursery school.
This is am increment from 40 in 2017 of which 38 passed in grade one.
The school currently has a total enrollment of 1800 pupils, school authority adds.
