MP Obua ‘Ajuri’ seat wanted by 22 year old Makerere University Law student

Mr Obal Daniel says Ajuri County must have an MP who works for the people.

Alebtong – With less than two years to the 2021 general elections – quite a number of political aspirants have emerged to unseat incumbent leaders.

Surprisingly to say is that majority of these fresh bloods are youth of not more than 30 years of age, and they are determined to scrimmage and emerge victors.

In Ajuri County, Alebtong district, a young man, 22, has commenced his mobilisation works aimed at “making his dream true”.

Mr Daniel Obal who holds a diploma in French and pursuing LLB, says Ajuri County has been misrepresented by the incumbent MP, Hamson Obua for many years.

According to Mr Obal – it’s a right time his friend Hamson leaves Parliament.

“As a leader, you don’t harm your opponent and harass them,” the 22 year old said, citing the recent mistreatment of Isaac Apenyo, Obua’s main challenger in the 2016 polls.

“I think I will probably be the youngest MP in Uganda. I’m just 22yrs; a Law scholar at Makerere University with diploma in French and other oriental languages, a certificate in political science, organizational management, and trainings in civil service,” he described himself.

His passion is to ensure the Ajuri electorates get government services closer to them. Mr Obal – who’s contesting under NRM party told TND News that bad roads, lack of monitoring of government projects in the district by his friend MP Obua has negatively impacted the lives of the people.

“Even when am yet to be an MP, I have started the work – written several letters to IGG to investigate corrupt district leaders. To cite, the procurement department of Alebtong district is being administered by corrupt leaders and I have swiftly taken actions and the result is amazing. He [suspect] had to retch the bribe,” he said.

Two months ago, Moroto County MP Okwir Odwe got a 25 year old challenger in 2021 polls. Yubu Onyong told TND News then that he wants to be a leader for everyone.

“I want to be a leader for everyone who will deal with development in everyone’s life and society without discrimination or having political mindset. A true leader for true people.”
