Lira—25, August 25, 2020: Lira Catholic Diocese has set the 7th of October 2020 as the date in which the newly renovated and expanded Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira will officially be commissioned and blessed.

The revelation was made by the Parish Priest of Lira Cathedral Rev Fr. George Ogwal Akaca during a scientific mass held to confer sacrament of baptism to over 40 infants in Lira City West (formerly Adyel) Division on Sunday.

According to Fr. Ogwal, the college of consultants of the Diocese agreed that since all the major works have been completed, the Cathedral should be commissioned for utilization by Christians for celebration of masses should the government lift restrictions on celebration of masses in Churches.

He added that the works left now are the establishment of pavers and fencing of the Church, which he believes will be completed by end of September.
