National—9, September 2020: Kitgum district has topped the Covid-19 new cases tally for Tuesday, registering 80 contacts and alerts.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Ministry of Health confirmed 201 new cases from tests done on Tuesday, 8 September 2020.
This brings the cumulative total confirmed cases in Uganda to 4,101 and 46 deaths.
The country has also recorded since March 1,876 total recoveries—and to date, 417, 897 cumulative virus samples have been tested.
Of the 201 new cases, 198 were contacts and alerts: 80 from Kitgum, 38 from Kampala, 23 from Moroto, 10 from Gulu, 8 from Amuru, 6 from Lira, 6 from Wakiso, 4 from Kikuubu, 4 from Zombo and 3 from Gulu.
Other districts with cases include: 2 from Amolatar, 2 from Buikwe, 2 from Butebo, 2 from Lamwo, 1 from Mukono, 1 from Butaleja and 1 from Nakaseke.
Two truck drivers tested positive from Elegu border and 1 returnee from UAE.
The Ministry also says one Kenyan trucker tested positive for the virus at Malaba border point and the entry into the country was stopped.
A total of 1,989 samples were tested on Tuesday, Ministry added, in its statement issued on Wednesday.
