Al-Hilal staged a dramatic late equalizer to force a 1-1 draw against Al-Nassr in Tuesday evening’s Riyadh derby, delaying the latter’s coronation as Saudi Pro League champions.
Al-Nassr had taken a first-half lead through Mohamed Simakan in the 37th minute, putting them on course for a win that would have sealed the league title. However, goalkeeper Bento’s bizarre own goal in the dying seconds of stoppage time handed Al-Hilal a share of the spoils.
According to Opta statistics, Al-Nassr had won each of their last 12 matches when leading at half-time in the Saudi Pro League. Their last failure to convert a half-time lead into victory came against Al-Hilal in January 2026, when they led 1-0 at the break but ultimately lost 3-1. This result means Al-Nassr must wait to officially clinch the championship.
