Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has set a new record for the most completed passes in a single UEFA Champions League season, surpassing a legendary mark held by Xavi.

The Portuguese international has registered 1,448 passes since the start of the 2025/26 campaign, overtaking the previous record of 1,299 set by Barcelona icon Xavi in 2012/13. Remarkably, Vitinha’s tally also beats his own best of 1,294 from last season, when he helped PSG win the European title.

While Xavi achieved his total over 12 matches (including two against Benfica) during a season when the Champions League had fewer games, Vitinha has already played 16 matches this term, averaging 90.5 passes per game. He still has one more match to play: the final against Arsenal.

Beyond his passing prowess, the 26-year-old has also contributed six goals and one assist in the competition this season, cementing his role as a key figure in Luis Enrique’s squad.

Vitinha’s record places him ahead of some of the game’s greatest passers, including Xavi himself, who previously held the top three spots. The full list of the highest single-season pass totals in Champions League history now reads:
