US donates 1.6m doses of  Pfizer vaccine to Uganda


Kampala – 21, September 2021: On Monday, the government of Uganda excitedly received a record high Covid-19 vaccines from the American government.

This was the highest doses ever to be donated to Uganda by her (any) partner countries.

“The governmen of Uganda has received 1,674,270 doses of Pfizer vaccine from the US government in support of the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination exercise,” the ministry of health said, Monday.

“This is the largest consignment of COVID-19 vaccines received to-date,” they added, in a statement.

As per the ministry of health’s 18, September virus update, 65 people tested positive. Upcountry districts continue to lead in the number of new cases.

To date, as of the September 18 update, Uganda had vaccinated 1,777,685 people, recorded 122,277 cumulative cases and 95,897 recoveries.

There are now 3,129 deaths, 381 active cases and 1,650,421 tests conducted since March 2020.

The national tests positivity rate stands at 2.1%.
