Kwania, Apac & Oyam behind leader Kla in latest Covid surge update
Lira – 19, September 2021: According to the latest Covid-19 update released by the Ministry of Health Sunday afternoon, three districts in Lango subregion are leaders.
The latest virus update indicates that 129 cases were recorded on September 17, 2021.
Since March 2020, 122,212 have tested positive for Covid-19, and 3,128 deaths have been recorded.
Out of 129 new cases, 126 were alerts and contacts from: Kwania (19), Kitgum (17), Apac (13), Soroti (11), Kampala (20), Omoro (7), Gulu (8), Mbarara (5), Oyam (4).
Others are Rakai (2), Kalungu (1), Adjumani (1), Kaberamaido (1), Tororo (1), Rubanda (1), Mbale (1), Kapelebyong (1).
Three truck drivers from Amuru (2) and one from Kyotera tested positive.
The national test positivity rate stands at 3.6% as of September 17, current data from the Health Ministry shows.
In Lango subregion, Apac is leading with test positivity rate of 10.9%, secretary of education and health, Sam Opira told media Saturday evening.
The west Lango district registered 27 cases on September 15 out of 200 new cases registered for that day.
Opira said it’s “not a joke” and called on the population to follow SOPs put in place to control the virus.
