Dokolo: 21-year-old student murdered for demanding debt worth shs200 only


Dokolo – 17, September 2021According to the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, a 21-year-old student was murdered for demanding his debt.

ASP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the region’s police spokesperson told news reporters Friday.

Okema says Orech Patrick aged 58 years and a resident of Arikeno village, Aneralibi parish Okwongdur Sub-county in Dokolo District reported the crime to police.

He (Okema) identified the deceased as Okal Ceasar, 21. Until his death, he was a resident of Telela village, Awmoma parish in Dokolo District.

Omara Boniface, the only suspect is “still at large” – according to Okema.

“It’s alleged that on the 22nd Aug 2021 at around 2100hrs while in Dago trading centre, the deceased went to Omara Boniface (Suspect) to demand for his money worth two hundred shillings (200/-) instead the suspect boxed him severely on the head and the stomach.”

“Some people came for his rescue and the suspect ran way. He stayed with the pain all through, untill on the 11th Sept 2021 that is when a report was made at police and were advised to go for proper treatment,” Okema adds.

The deceased was then taken to Lira Regional Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on the 15th Sept 2021.

A murder case is being investigated in Dokolo under CRB 279/2021.

“Scene where the incident of assault occured was visited and well reconstructed. Some statements were recorded.”

The police spokeperson says the postmortem was done and the body handed over to the relatives for burial.
