Namule Prison Bridge collapses after a heavy downpour

Lira—10, September 2021: Traffic has been diverted along Muyembe-Namale-Nakapiripirit road because of heavy downpour, Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) says.

The authority, in a letter dated 10, September, adds Namalu Prison Bridge collapsed cutting off connection of Nakapiripirit and other districts.

“Motorists are advised to use the alternative route of Mbale-Soroti-Nakapiripirit road,” the letter further reads.

According to UNRA, they require the temporary road closure to allow “our emergency response team carry out works and restore traffic flows”.

“We appeal to road users to observe traffic management guidelines that have been put in place for safety as our technical teams carry out these emergency works.”
