Gulu city police arrest two security guards on a-gun-theft allegation

Gulu City – 20, July 2021: Police in Gulu city are investigating circumstances surrounding the theft of a gun SAR rifle No. UG. PSO 56 – 4000778 code 11788.

The stolen gun had 5 rounds of ammunition. Two private security guards who were on duty are key suspects.

The suspects identified as Ojera Emmanuel and Okori Innocent both aged 24 years are attached to Corporate Security Group in Gulu. They were deployed at Gulu Medical and Imaging Consultant along school road, Laroo – Pece Division East in Gulu city.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa Region Police Spokesperson told TND News that it is “alleged that on 19 July 2021 at around 0130hours the said gun went missing while these guards were on duty”.

The alleged missing gun was later recovered from Te – Tank Sub ward, Labour Line parish, within the same division by one Okello Sunday, 35.

Okello was jogging at around 0530 hours of 19. July 2021.

He explained to police that he “stopped and got concerned after seeing two street kids struggling between themselves on how to use the rifle”.

Mudong added that Okello immediately intervened and picked the rifle which he later handed over to police at Gulu Central Police Station.

He further noted that investigation under SD Ref: 15/19/7/2021 has been registered and the two guards have been arrested and detained at Gulu Central Police Station to help with investigations.
