FUFA election: Six districts in Northern Uganda didn’t cast votes

However, following a road-map issued by FUFA, other elections are yet to follow.

Lira – 14, April 2021: A total of six Districts Football Associations [DFAs] in Northern region [Acholi and Lango] were not able to participate in the FUFA election as reported by the Football Association CEO in charge Northern region, Eron Alal.

Out of the seventeen DFAs, Lira, Agago,  Kitgum,  Nwoya, Otuke  and  Amolatar  did  not conduct  elections for chairpersons DFAs and district delegates, respectively .

According to the CEO, districts that did not participate in the 4th division league last season (2019/2020) before Covid -19 were exempted from conducting the elections as part of the FUFA guidelines.

Alal says clubs who missed to participate in the current elections can apply in writing to the general secretariat of FUFA. The letter should be accompanied with mandatory items, including membership as per Article 9 of the FUFA.

The districts that conducted their elections in Northern region (Acholi and Lango) were Gulu, Kole, Amuru, Pader, Kwania, Dokolo, Apac, Lamwo, Omoro, Alebtong and Oyam.

However, following a road-map issued by FUFA, other elections are yet to follow.

The exercise will include election of Regional Football Associations Delegates, SIG delegates and FUFA President. The elections shall be held before the end of August 2021.
