Lira – 2, April 2021: A thanks-giving-friendly-game between Lira Sports Academy (LSA) and Lango Select ended in a goalless draw on Thursday evening.

The match was played at Akii-bua stadium, Lira City.

The hosts [LSA] overpowered the visitors at half time with series of killer crosses from the wingers: Obira Rozers [LW] and Okecha Steven [RW]. Both failed to convert their chances into goals.

The attempt to win the game by Lango Select towards the end of 90minutes was not possible when a goal scored by Allan Okello was ruled out for an offside offence.

Lira Sports Academy missed a penalty after Rogers Obira was brought down in the penalty area.

“It was a thanks-giving-friendly football match organized by Okello Allan, and others who started their journeys of football way back from Lira Sports Academy,” Lalam Regina reports.

Okello said it’s only through friendly games that they can meet and know each other especially the ones who are being nurtured by the academy and, supporting where necessary

LSA was known as New-Newcastle in early 2002; it became the current Lira Sports Academy in 2010 after legalizing its existence with football governing body in Uganda.

LSA has nurtured many players that includes Okello Allan who is  currently playing with Paradou FC in Algeria. He played for one of the domestic clubs, KCCA FC and he’s among the national senior team players of Uganda Cranes.

Others are Musa Ramadan playing for KCCA FC, Okwir Daira [UPDF FC] and others.
