Kampala – 26, March 2021: On Thursday, Parliament of Uganda paid tribute to the fallen Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli.

Magufuli exceedingly walked in the footpath of the Tanzania’s founding father, the late Julius Mwalimu Nyerere.

If we were allowed to give Magufuli titles, today I would have proclaimed him the first president of the Republic of East Africa.

Why? Because he would have transformed the region with the style of the management of the economy and the state affairs that he was able to demonstrate in just five years, to move Tanzania from a third world to second world economy.

We have been singing of moving Uganda to middle income status for decades but we are yet to make it.

As women, we also celebrate the swearing in of the new female President of Tanzania H.E Samia Suluhu Hassan.

May the soul of Magufuli rest in peace.

Cecelia is the woman MP, Dokolo District.
