Kampala – 1, March 2021: President Yoweri Kaguta T. Museveni is scheduled to address  political party leaders and some stakeholders this week on Friday.

Gen. Museveni was declared president elect with 59% of the January 14 disputed elections. His main challenger, Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine got 35%, according to the electoral commission (EC) chairman, Hon. Justice Simon B. Mugenyi.

He’s set to rule Uganda until 2026, extending his rule to 40 years by that time.

Addressing the media at Kabira Country Club (Hotel) in Kampala on Monday, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party secretary general said the president will address other political party leaders on 5 March, 2021.

This will be during the Inter Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) summit. IPOD is composed of the heads of the political parties in Uganda.

“This particular summit will be convened and hosted by the President of Uganda who is also the National Chairman of NRM and current Chairperson of the summit,” NRM leader told media.

She added that the summit will among other things, review the previous elections and what needs to be done going forward.

It’s not known whether the FDC party president, Hon. Patrick Oboi Amuriat who came third in the January presidential election will participate, after an announcement that a man he criticises often might make a ‘lengthy address’.

“The party president is currently busy and he may delegate. The secretary general too,” a senior staff of FDC told this publication on condition of anonymity.

However, UPC party president, Hon. James Michael Akena, DP party president Hon. Nobert Mao, and JEEMA party president Hon. Asuman Basalirwa are all expected.
