Otuke—17 October 17, 2020: A former senior Banking Executive, Mr Paul Omara who was on Thursday nominated to contest for Otuke County Parliamentary seat on independent ticket, has listed a raft of reforms and development agenda which he intends to work on once elected in the 2021 general elections.
Speaking on Saturday morning in an exclusive interview with TND News, Mr Paul Omara says he aims at “providing transformative leadership centered on advancing welfare of people of Otuke and standing for responsible, accountable leadership”.
Mr Omara listed a plethora of reforms, including a greater improvement in the budgetary allocation for the district to enhance her capacity in effective and efficient service delivery in the core areas of roads infrastructure, education, health, water and sanitation and agriculture.
With his vast experience and exposure in the private sector, Omara says he will network, engage and collaborate with different players to enhance agricultural production and productivity through “market commodity driven approach” which in the end would increase finances of the farmers and transform lives.
On the road network, Omara says he will work with government to ensure the upgrading of the Lira-Otuke-Abim road and improvement in many roads in the district to facilitate easy transportation of people and commodities to the market.
According to Omara, achieving these requires a leader who understands the real challenges of the constituents and has the ability and capacity to engage with other leaders to have them addressed.
Mr Omara has been nominated together with three other candidates: Richard Omara Awio of NRM, Moses Augustine Otim of UPC and Obong Daniel (Independent).
Who is Paul Omara?
Mr Paul Omara is an accomplished international Banker and Development Economist. He has been a banking executive for 11 years and worked in the banking industry for over 24 years in five African countries.
Omara holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Cardiff.
Born in 1967 to former senior banker Lujino Obwol, Omara attended Barjobi Primary School, Adwari Secondary School, Doctor Obote College Boroboro and Makerere University.
Omara is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Ngetta Tropical Holdings Limited, a leading manufacturing firm based in Lira City, Northern Uganda.
He seat on two eminent boards of Housing Finance Bank and ICEA Life Insurance.
He is a community developer and organizer concerned with transforming the livelihood of people through wealth creation.
