Agago: Armed LDUs injure five in Lopita bar brawl

Agago—August 30, 2020: Two members of the Local Defense Unit (LDU) have injured five people in Lopita village, Lubwa parish, Adilang sub-county in Agago district in a bar brawl.

The armed duo were identified as Francis Awany and Christopher Opio, all attached to Achol-pii 5th Division army headquarters.

Adilang LCIII chairman, Mohammed Okwir, confirmed the incident.

He further said on Saturday evening the LDUs were drinking together five other civilians he identified as Yusuf Kamya, Brown Otto, David Kitenya, Bosco Okidi and Mandela Oyaro.

The LCIII chair further explained that the LDUs, after a disagreement with the five partiers, “picked their guns and poked the five with the bonnet, in different parts of the body, injuring them severely”.

Mr Okwir says that the five are currently receiving treatment at Adilang Health Centre III.

The Public Relations Officer at Achol-pii 5th division, Lieutenant Hassan Kato, also confirmed the incident and said the duo were apprehended yesterday (Saturday).

“They will face the law for their crime,” he added.

Meanwhile, Adilang HCIII In-charge, a one Stella says the four have minor wounds that are now healing, except Kitenya whose wounds are severe.
