National—26, August 2020: The Ministry of Health has confirmed 98 new Covid-19 cases from 4,232 total samples tested on Monday, 25 August 2020.
In a press statement, the Ministry also confirmed 1 new Covid-19 death, bring the total deaths to 26.
Of the 98 new cases, 92 are contacts and alerts: 65 from Kampala, 8 from Wakiso, 6 from Mbale, 4 from Gulu, 3 from Adjumani, 2 from Arua, 1 from Kotido, 1 from Pader, and 1 from Tororo,
Three truck drivers: 1 from Mpondwe, and 2 from Malaba all tested positive for Covid-19, the Ministry adds.
Two returnees, 1 from South Sudan and 1 from South Africa all tested positive. According to the Ministry, one health worker from Adjumani was found positive.
“Uganda recorded 1 Covid-19 death today; a Ugandan male aged 27 years old and a resident of Mengo, Kampala. The cumulative total of Covid-19 deaths is now 26,” the statement further reads.
Cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to date is 2524 and to date, 1,268 people have recovered.
Since March this year, 359, 289 cumulative Covid-19 samples have been tested.
