Nwoya—3, August 2020: “We have come a long way to bring Nwoya district to the current level. It has been a concerted effort,” Lilly Adong, the Nwoya district Woman MP says.

In a message to her constituents early on Monday, she said despite the fact that we now have Nwoya East and Nwoya County, “l am still taking up to be district Woman Representative (MP).”

“Managing the whole district requires tested leadership. There is a lot am doing in the whole district and we can’t all withdraw as incumbents and leave the whole district,” she added.

According to her, there is a rumour and propaganda being peddled by wrong people that she is going for Nwoya East, revealing that there is a song sponsored by her opponent purporting to be her. In the song, people of Payira are being abused and that she’s now going back to lead Nwoya East.

“I am above that. My mission in politics is not what they think.”

She adds that it will be the most stupid decision as an incumbent to fight for what we both worked hard to be created.

“Smear campaigns will not help but sow seeds of discord amongst our people. I always advise people to listen to all candidates to be able to make the right choice. Our quest for leadership if it’s true leadership should offer hope and unity to our people but not sowing bitterness,” she says.

“There is life after politics as was before. Politics is a service.”

The Woman MP has requested all the people of Nwoya to ignore that, adding that her opponents are not her spokespersons.
