Erias Lukwago crosses to FDC from DP party

FDC President Amuriat (R) welcoming Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago to FDC on Tuesday morning.

Kampala – 28, July 2020: Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago was on Tuesday morning unveiled as a Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] party member, joining from Democratic Party [DP].

Mr Lukwago was unveiled alongside Hon. Betty Namboozi, DP who’s a Mukono Municipality MP, Makindye West MP, Hon. Allan Ssewanyana, and Lubaga North MP, Hon. Mosese Kasibante.

Earlier on, police and FDC supporters clashed at party headquarters with security forces demanding halt of the event.

Lukwago’s crossing to FDC, according to some FDC supporters, has been long overdue and should have taken place “long ago”.

He has been very close to FDC founder and first party president, Dr Kizza Besigye and he holds a high profile position in the People’s Government – a body headed by Kizza Besigye as People’s President.

Like him, Betty Nambooze is the spokesperson of the People’s Government and her crossing to FDC, to some, is not a surprise.

“I’m at peace with my heart, I am at peace with my conscience…” Lukwago said, after being unveiled by FDC president, Patrick Amuriat Oboi.
