Saturday: Two contacts and alerts from Lira among 12 new virus cases confirmed

National—12, July 2020: Uganda’s cumulative Covid-19 confirmed cases have risen to 1,025 as of Saturday 11, July this year.

This was after confirmation of twelve new cases by the Ministry of Health, in a statement issued on Sunday afternoon.

Seven Ugandan truck drivers: five from Malaba, two from Mirama Hills and Elegu border points tested positive for coronavirus.  

Five of the confirmed cases were alerts and contacts: Two from Tororo, two from Lira, one from Cyanika.

According to the Ministry of Health, seventeen foreign truck drivers tested positive for Covid-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.

There are now 972 total recoveries (include both Ugandans and Foreigners).

Total samples of 2,292 were tested Saturday.
