Lira, Kampala—11, July 2020: On Thursday, social media rumour-provider, also the spokesperson of the ruling party, National Resistance movement (NRM) went missing.  Later, it was disclosed that he was in the hands of Uganda Police.

Soon after, there were speculations on to the factors or reasons that could have triggered the arrest of Philips Ogile, aka Jakayo.

The most immediate reason that everyone settled for linked his incarceration to his fervent support for Lt. General Henry Tumukunde, who has since shown interest to challenge his former Commander-in-Chief, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming scientific general (presidential) elections.

But this digital newspaper is now privy to detailed and classified information that led to the arrest of Jakayo, some of which we shall not divulge here since his file is still under investigations by top-notch cyber gurus attached to the headquarters of Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Directorate in Kibuli – Kampala.

First forward, TND News can authoritatively and unequivocally reveal that a general Inquiry file GEF 97/ 2020 was recently opened against Phillips Ogile following his several social media attacks on high ranking personalities and government officials and he has been under surveillance of cyber investigators for “quite a long time”.

He is now being held as a suspect of cyber bullying and harassment at Kibuli following his several social tirades that impeccable security sources who have talked to TND News say contravenes the computer Misuse Act.

Among prominent government officials who have met the brutal wrath of Ogile’s fierce cyber hands are; Minister for Kampala City Council Authority and Metropolitan Affairs, Betty Amongi Akena Ongom, State Minister of Defense, Hon. P. Charles Okello Engola Macodwogo, UPC’s Jimmy James Michael Akena and Lango Paramount Chief, Mzee Yosam Odur Ebii.

In recent social media posts largely on Facebook and WhatsApp platforms, Mr Ogile attacked Amongi over the motorcycle she donated to all the sub-counties in Oyam to aid the sub-county Covid-19 task force in mitigating the spread of novel coronavirus pandemic.

Jakayo would later, in his social media posts, accuse Minister Amongi of targeting his campaign agents with the motorcycles to entrench her campaigns ahead of the 2021 elections, a post that was construed as mudslinging and a smear campaign against the Minister.

He has equally attacked Minister Okello Engola whom he accuses of betraying the trust of voters of Oyam North constituency, while he has attacked Jimmy James Michael Akena for allegedly betraying the dreams and aspirations of his late father, Dr Apolo Milton Obote by way of accepting to work with president Museveni and his ruling party.

Now, a top cop who is leading the investigations into this case has intimated to TND News that cyber investigators had placed Mr Phillips Ogile Jakayo under a 24/7 eagle eye surveillance from the time he started using his social media handles as a lethal tool of cyber harassment.

The top cyber investigator further disclosed on condition of anonymity that they are now putting pieces together and that apart from the cyber harassment charges that has been slapped on Jakayo, his charge sheet could soon be amended to include other charges of blackmail and character assassination, among others.

To add salt to injury, TND News further understands that if there is one animal that Jakayo shouldn’t have ever hunted in the jungles is Counsel Alex Bashasha, a renowned city lawyer, highly placed and connected with top government officials.

But the city lawyer was equally a victim of Ogile’s cyber bullying, as it is now being termed by cops, a key reason behind his incarceration.

Ogile often attacked Bashasha who according to his posts was fleecing on the compensation money disbursed by government for Lango animal compensation through Lango War Claimants.

It should also be recalled that Ogile, early this year, survived arrest in Kamala while attending a meeting with Gen. Tumukunde at his Kololo based residence. He would later give an account to TND News of how he survived the arrest while vowing to challenge NRM, a party he speaks for.

He has also been releasing a series of a scathing attack on NRM and this publication has been reliably informed that all these details engineered his arrest.

By Friday evening, efforts were in high-gear to secure his release on police bond, while there is also a higher possibility that he could be produced in court next week.
