National—8, July 2020: Since March 2020, Uganda has tested a total of 216, 311 samples and of these, 977 Ugandans have been confirmed positive.
Releasing Tuesday’s results on Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Health confirms six new cases out of 3,451 samples tested same day. “The cumulative confirmed cases for Uganda is now 977,” Dr Henry G. Mwebesa, Director General Health Services announces.
“Out the six confirmed cases; four are truck drivers who arrived from Kenya via Malaba Point of Entry, two are contacts and alerts from Tororo and Moyo districts,” he added.
Dr Mwebesa also announces that nineteen foreign truck drivers (sixteen Kenyans, two Tanzanians, and one Congolese) tested positive for Covid-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.

There are 210 active cases on admission; 189 are Ugandans, 18 foreigners and 3 refugees, the Ministry top official further says.
“It’s important to note that foreigners and refugees are admitted in our health facilities but are not captured in the cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases.”
“To date, Uganda has registered as total of 904 Covid-19 recoveries (both Ugandans and non-Ugandans) and no Covid-19 related death,” Ministry’s statement continues.
