Uganda: Nine new virus cases confirmed on Wednesday

National—2, July 2020: Results from Covid-19 tests done on 01 July 2020 (Wednesday) confirmed nine new cases.

The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 902, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday afternoon.

Two truck drivers who arrived from Kenya via Malaba tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Seven contacts; two from Amuru and five from Tororo districts also tested positive.

According to the Ministry, twenty-seven foreign truck drivers who tested positive for Covid-19 were not allowed into the country.

Active cases on admission are 188 (163 are Ugandans, 19 foreigners and 6 refugees), adds the Ministry.

Total recoveries are 847 (these Includes both Ugandans and foreigners).

1,958 total samples tested on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, four new cases out of the total 2,059 samples tested were positive. To date, the cumulative samples of samples tested are 196,830.
