
Kampala—27, May 2020: The Ministry of Health on Wednesday confirmed 28 new COVID-19 cases. The country’s total confirmed cases are now 281.
Statement by the Ministry says 21 new cases are truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu while 7 cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers.
The contacts were under quarantine at the time of test.
Seven positive foreign truck drivers (4 Tanzanians, 1 Eritrean, 1 Congolese and 1 Burundian) were handed over to their country of origin
To date, 69 people have recovered from the virus and have all been discharged from different health facilities.
According to the Ministry, 1,456 samples were tested from Points of Entry on Wednesday.
Samples from community and contacts tested were 548
Total samples tested for the day were 2,004, confirms the Health Ministry.
