NRM mourns death of her delegate, Mary Lokel



Kampala – The NRM party has lost her delegate following a road accident last week.

In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, the Secretariat announces Ms. Mary Lokel, 62, passed on at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala.

“Lokel has been the Finance Secretary for the NRM Women League in Kaabong District,” the party says.

Cause of death.

“Ms. Lokel was among the delegates that attended the recently concluded National Conference in Namboole. On her way from Namboole, she was knocked down by a speeding boda-boda in Nakawa as she crossed the road to pick a taxi to Luzira where she was heading to spend a night at her daughter’s home a one Stella Lokel,” the party added, in a statement.

“Lokel has since Saturday been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until she took her last breathe this afternoon.”

The NRM Secretaty General Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba was in Nsambya Hospital to check on her yesterday.

TND News has learnt that the Secretary General has dispatched a team of her staff to the hospital to join the family in the preliminary burial arrangements.
