Profile: Who’s Eddy Morris Ogweng – Kole South MP aspirant?

Kole – One of the candidates vying for Kole South MP seat in the 2021 elections has had his first consultation meeting.

On Wednesday, he met and briefed National Resistance Movement [NRM] party leadership and delegates from Kole district of his intention to run for MP seat.

Today, we are briefly profiling him, looking into different aspects he holds.

Mr. Morris Ogweng is a Ugandan, hailing from Baramindyang, Telela, Ayer sub-county in Kole district.


He holds Masters in International Cooperation & Humanitarian Aid from Kalu Institute, Spain. He also obtained Masters in International Development, Virtual University.

Mr. Ogweng further holds a Postgraduate in Mental Health in Complex Emergencies, jointly awarded by London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Fordham University, New York

The MP hopeful also attended Makerere University and obtained Bachelors of Community Psychology.


His first job was with Food for the Hungry International after returning from the United Kingdom where he had gone for his postgraduate studies.

He founded the Odwar Fund that he says has sponsored hundreds of children in universities, producing many Doctors, Economist, Agriculturalist and he added “they are now serving Uganda in different capacities.”

He’s the current patron of Karacel Savings & Loans Association, a powerful community Village Savings and Loan Association [VSLA] created to eradicate poverty in the community.

Ogweng is undertaking a business, “Smart Agricultural Solutions Limited” which he tells TND News has attracted both the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his [Ogweng’s] close and a personal friend, His Highness King Oyo Nyimba Kabama Iguru Rukidi IV who had to visit his farm in Kole.

Ogweng says he is also a permanent representative of Lango community in North America, where he added he has attracted many Lango sons and daughters to come back to Uganda and invest in the development of Lango and Uganda at large.

  • Featured among top 40 Ugandans under 40 inspiring men in Uganda.

He says he is the first person to show interest in the NRM to hold its flag for Kole South.

Other contestants in the race includes; Honourable Peter Ocen Akalo who’s the incumbent. (Independent flag). DD Rwankote Omeni, likely to contest on independent ticket and Mr. Fred Ebil Ebil, likely on UPC. Mr Ebil was the MP for Kole in the 9th Parliament.
