Lira- By projection, year 2020 seems a big ‘battle year’ for People Power and her chief leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu widely known as Bobi Wine.
The Kyandondo East Member of Parliament declared his Presidential bid last year ahead of the fiercely expected 2021 general polls.
Mr. Wine also recently informed the public, government and security of his intention to move countrywide to consult Ugandans about his intention to vie for Presidency – alongside incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and others ‘still at large’.
In his schedule submitted to Inspector General of Police (IGP), Martin Okoth Ochola – Bobi Wine’s first consultation was planned for Monday 6th January 2020 at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Gayaza parish in Kyandondo East Constituency, Wakiso district.
However, on Monday, he and other People Power leaders were arrested by security for attempting to hold a meeting ‘in an open space’, according to Police spokesperson, Fred Enaga.
Bobi Wine who’s expected in Lira Town [district] on Wednesday 8th January, 2020 to meet Lango sub-region’s ‘delegates’ at Grand Pacific Hotel, according to exclusive information we have may not be possible.

“I have not received their letter and there is still time,” RDC added.
Asked what possibility is there for Bobi Wine to meet his people in Lira when by 8th January his office is not informed formally, Mr. Odongo told us: “I will have to consult my Commander whether to grant them permission or not.”
According to Lira RDC, “If they [People Power] follow law, there will be no problem. If they don’t, there will be problem.”
Mid last year when People Power team from Kampala were expected in Lira district, RDC Odongo warned Bobi Wine never to step his foot in Lira district.
