Dokolo Councillors kick-start investigation after two official cars get ‘unacceptable’ accidents

Unacceptable accident? Councillors of Dokolo district Local government have launched an investigation to establish circumstances under which two vehicles belonging to district was involved in an accident out of working hours.

Recently Dokolo district vehicles, one with registration number LG0018/ 028 and a pick up attached to Water and Sanitation department got involved in separate accident.

According to unofficial information this digital newspaper has obtained, over Uganda shillings 5 million is needed to repair them.

Eyewitness told TND News that one of the cars got involved in an accident on Aduku road in Lira municipality at around 4:00am last week.

Moses Onyango who represents the people of Okwalongwen sub-county to the district council says his fellow councillors have commenced investigation in to the matter.

“After we have concluded, we will come up with the affirmative action,” he added.

Also, Ms. Esther Betty Atoo who represents women of Dokolo and Amwoma sub-country and also a member of the committee of works and technical services had this to say.

“We need administrators to act over this matter before paying shillings 5 million for repairing the two cars.”

Sammy Ogwang, a former councillor expressed his fears, noting that the damaged cars will lead to financial loss.

Mr. Ogwang claims the damage [accident] is being caused by other drivers who are not recruited by the district.
