Alebtong With 2021 polls drawing closer, Denis Hamson Obua ‘Ajuri’s’ main challenger, Mr. Obal Daniel has sent his congratulatory message to the Ajuri County MP.

In his messages via Twitter and Facebook, Obal, who has shown interest to defeat MP Obua in 2021 polls, urges the incumbent to use his new portfolio to leave a legacy in Lango.

“It would have been bad history for Obua to end his Parliamentary career without testing Ministerial office. I’m calling upon him to do something tangible in the next one year,” he said.

In the latest cabinet reshuffle that President Museveni announced last weekend, the Head of State appointed Obua as Minister of Sports something that triggered debate within the political space of Lango on what could be the motive.

According to inner circles, youthful Obal, too, enjoys a comfortable relationship with President Museveni who has often referred to him as “his young friend”.

“We welcome the appointment of Hon. Obua as a Minister. We cannot however think President Museveni appointed Obua to give him an upper hand in the 2021 election. Our candidate Mr. Obal is a great friend of the President,” said Mr. Obote, an ardent supporter of Obal.

To Obua’s supporters, appointment of their candidate as a Minister proves the confidence that President Museveni has in their man.

This new development ushers in a sharp twist of events in Ajuri as the battle grounds is getting set for the 2021 general elections.

According to some political commentators in Lango sub-region, they think that Obua’s appointment as a minister hints on his exit from elective politics, many noting that ever since, “there’s no person appointed to cabinet in Lango who made it back to Parliament.”
