Roke Telecom donates items worth shs.7m to St. Jude Children’s Home

Nwoya – Uganda’s internet provider, Roke Spot Telecom Company has donated items worth seven million shillings to St. Jude Children’s home in Nwoya district.

The company say it’s a way of giving back to the community.

Timothy Mugenyi who’s the Human Resource Manager of the company says they believe in giving back to the community.

“For the last four years we have been giving back to the vulnerable community in different parts of the country,” Mr. Mugenyi tells TND News.

He added that, “children are the future of tomorrow so they need to be helped and if not helped then the future of our country will be at stake.”

Among the items donated includes: a refrigerator, exercise books, cartons of sugar, maize flour, rice, soap, buckets and basins and they also planted trees among others.

The team from Roke Spot Telecom also had the opportunity to interface with the children at the center in different activities which included football and also had lunch together with them.

Josephine Ogwete, the Deputy Director of the center couldn’t hide her joy and appreciated the donor company [team] for the tremendous work by trying to help the “disadvantaged, underprivileged, the abandoned in our communities”.

Ms. Ogwete appealed to the general public, local communities to always cooperate and identify children so that they can have a family attachments with the second homes since most miss out the opportunity of being with their biological families.

“Currently, St. Jude is parenting a total of 80 vulnerable children with different disabilities,” she added.

St Jude Children’s Home was founded by the late Rev. Sister Bannerette Akwero in Anaka Mission in Nwoya District.

To date, the home has mothered and housed over one thousands children who are vulnerable in Northern Uganda.
