Bishop’s burial to cost ‘shs.116m’

Lira – On Saturday 19th October, 2019, the first Bishop of Lango Diocese will be laid to rest.

Bishop Emeritus Melchizedek Otim died at 85 years from Mulago Cancer Institute in Kampala on Wednesday 30, September, 2019.

The Man of God died at 3:00am, family member says. He was first admitted at Lira regional referral hospital on Tuesday, same day he was transferred to Mulago.

A projected budget seen by TND News, communication/announcement [TV, print and radio] is estimated to cost Uganda shillings 10 million. Casket is estimated at shillings 9 million, meals for Friday 18th through Saturday 19th is estimated at shillings 27,422,000.

Funeral service provider, A Plus is to get shillings 25,610,000 million.

In 1976, he was appointed the first Bishop of Lango Diocese by the then Archbishop, Janani Luwum (RIP).

He served until 2000 and he was succeeded by Bishop Emeritus, John Charles Odur Kami.

Monday: October 14, 2019: Vigil at Peter and Martha Ojede’s residence in Namuwongo, Kampala Starting 6:00 pm.

Tuesday: October 15, 2019. Body departs for Apac via Apoi in Akokoro.

Wednesday: October 16, 2019: Funeral service at St. Thomas CoU, Apac

Wednesday: October 16, 2019: Overnight vigil at St. Peters Cathedral, Aduku.

Thursday, October 17, 2019: Christians pay last respects at St. Augustine Church, Barogole in Lira.

Thursday: October 17, 2019: Vigil at the residence of the firstborn sonJohn Ogweng in Boke village outside Lira town.

Friday, October 18, 2019: Body embarks on its final journey to All Saints Cathedral, Boroboro.
