|The former UPC party leader passed on, on 30 September, 2019 from The Netherlands.
Kampala – Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party is mourning the death of its former top leader, Joseph Bossa.
The former party Secretary General under Dr. John Olara Otunu succumbed to Colon Cancer, reports say.
As different personalities eulogize him, and condole with his family, on Wednesday, Jimmy Akena – the current party President, in a weekly press conference held at UPC party headquarters, recalls how he came to know the deceased.
“I came to know Joseph Bossa after the 2010 UPC Presidential election which saw Olara Otunu elected as party President where he immediately appointed Joseph Bossa as the Secretary General. Bossa went ahead to carry the party flag in the 2011 General Elections in Makindye Division East Constituency,” Akena, who’s also the Lira Municipality MP, said of Joseph.
“Bossa was subsequently elevated to the position of the Vice President of the party in which position he served until the end of that Term. We acknowledge and honour Joseph Bossa for the service rendered to the party in those capacities.”
“We send our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Lady Justice Solome Bulungi Bossa, family and friends,” Mr. Akena says, on behalf of The Congress.
Knowing Bossa deeper
The UPC leader, Akena, however said he didn’t know Bossa deeper.
“Clearly, there are areas where I may not be the most qualified to give the very detailed account but we’re going to compile all the information available and those who worked closer with him will also have opprotunity to say what specifically can be attributed to him (the Late),” he added.
“But as a party, we recognize those that served in different capacities and we will honour them for that good reason.”
