FDC leaders claim party attacked by “State Operatives”

Gulu – A section of leaders in the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party in Gulu district have expressed disappointment and worries after receiving ‘new defectors’ with bad motives.

They claim that these ‘are operatives’ with ‘well designed structures’ to destroy the opposition party.

FDC Gulu leadership further believe that it’s a work plan by some elements in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party to ‘steal their strategy, style and workplan’ ahead of 2021 elections.

According to Okumu Ronald Reagan, also an MP for Aswa County, “it’s very unfortunate that these elements in the party are confusing the population with their old ideology and structures; they’re terming it a people’s government.”

“We want to refute these; the division of the party by some individuals and ask those who have one leg in the party to better walk away and declare openly their position other than staying with us in pretence,” MP Okumu warned, adding: “They are more like a jigger.”

The FDC leaders reveal that  these ‘party members’ in their different capacities have moved ahead and writing documents (letters) using forged party letter head, and issuing it to the people.

“It’s illegal and they must stop because it might result in the Courts of Law,” Mr. Okumu added, without mentioning any names.

Mr. Okumu, who’s also the FDC vice chairperson for northern region, tells party supporters not to worry but have maximum trust in the FDC party.

Ojara Martin Mapenduzi, the Gulu LC5 chairman said: “What is currently happening in the party is unfortunate since the party had raised expections and hopes for long years.”

“We are realising uncoordination, intrigue and destructive patterns being employed to bring down the party and there is need to realign the leadership with deliberate plans to end the vice of infiltration,” he noted.

“The People’s Government formed inside the FDC is basically a drawn strategy to cripple the party; leaving the core mission of fighting President Museveni’s dictatorship,” one party member claims.
