Media Conference, Exhibitions 2019 expected to promote firm partnership


|The 2nd Annual Media Conference and Exhibitions 2019 will be held in Lira Town from 16-18 October, 2019.

The 2019 events, organised by TND News, Great Lakes Centre for Strategic Media Studies (GLCSMS LLC) and partners: Teso-Karamoja Media Agency (TEKAMA), Uganda Science Journalists Association (USJA), alongside Northern Uganda Science Journalists Association is expected to bring together “all media players”, businesses and companies to showcase their products, brands, among others.

Under the theme: Roles of Media, Stakeholders in Development and Prosperity”, the two events; conference and exhibitions will go concurrently starting at 8am, everyday.

Proposed venues are: All Saints University Lango [ASUL] Main Campus and Lira Mayor’s Gardens.

“After the successful Media Conference 2016, held at Lira District Council Hall, key among many resolutions were; continuity, firm understanding and accord between media players and different stakeholders,” Milton Emmy Akwam, Founder and CEO of TND News and GLCSMS LLC noted.

“We are all aware that media houses in Uganda, her journalists have been victims of torture, arrest and threats by those in authorities, and access to information has been our key challenge,” Mr Akwam adds, in an interview.

He says the forum will help media ‘task’ those with information to “give us freely and when we need it; and discuss plights and safety of media houses ahead of 2021 general polls.”

This year, the conference is expected to host not less than 300 participants, while at the exhibitions ground, we are expecting to register more than 500 exhibitors, with closing day bringing together more than 10,000 people.

Live entertainments from renowned artistes from Northern Uganda, West Nile, Eastern Uganda and from Kampala (Central) are expected on closing day, Friday 18 October, at Mayor’s Grounds, from 6pm.


Parliament of Uganda, government’s MDAs, among them; Office of the Prime Minister (Northern Uganda Minister), Ministries of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Trade and Industries, ICT & National Guidance, Education and Sports, Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Local Government are expected.

URA, IGG, URSB, Electoral Commission, NIRA, UCC, among others are too, expected to conduct exhibitions and make presentations at the conference.

We shall have members of the Civil Society Organisations as well. Presentations and keynote speeches from distinguished media players, ladies and gentlemen from northern Uganda, prominent groups and association’s leaders in the region, government institutions and Civil Society Groups will start and sum up the three days.

According to the organisers, the two events will allow the general public to access key services and get informations from institutions like the IGG, NIRA, URSB, Electoral Commission, among other institutions.
