Bobi Wine on Okot Bitek’s shooting: ‘It won’t scare us from real cause’

People Power founder and chief mobilizer – Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who is also the Kyandondo East Member of Parliament has spoken out on the recent shooting of his mobilizer for Lango sub-region.

Widely known as Bobi Wine, the musician turned politician promised to offer support to Okot Bitek, a Gulu based lawyer who three months ago was shot at by a bodyguard of the Amolatar RDC, Ms. Lillian Eyal.

Mr. Okot was shot at for allegedly mobilising locals to protest against government’s restrictions on fishermen on Lake Kyoga.

He was badly injured and had to be admitted to Kumi Orthopaedic hospital in Kumi district. After undergoing series of operations, his medical bill rose upto more than shillings 30 millions.

While meeting last month’s inaugurated People Power Coordinators from Bunyoro sub-region recently, Bobi Wine was reminded of Okot’s current health condition after which he promised to visit and offer support.

“As People Power, we are going to come in and help our brother,” Livingstone Akugizibwe said of Bobi Wine, while speaking to TND News Saturday.

“These shootings and killings will not scare us from the real cause of having Mr. Museveni out of power,” Bobi Wine is quoted to have said.

Mr. Okot was rewarded by Bobi Wine to man Lango sub-region, sensitizing and recruiting masses to join People Power and most importantly vote the latter for President come 2021 polls.

Speaking to this contemporary online newspaper Sunday morning, Mr. Okot says he was yet to receive Bobi Wine’s communication.
