Gulu: WBC finally gets Paralympic trophy after 2018 victory

Gulu Wheelchairs Basketball Club was on Tuesday handed over a trophy they won during last years’ Uganda National Paralympic competition held in Mbarara.

Paul Acaye, the team coach says the trophy is a sign of accounting to both the district and the community for the financial supports rendered to them last year.

Wheel chair basketball, javelin, athletics, among other games were some of the sporting activities which took place last year.

Rose Amono Abili, the secretary for health and education, Gulu district on behalf of the LCV chairperson says: “The team made the district proud, and we will continue offering the support to the disabled team to strengthen their sporting activities.”

Gulu deputy chief administrative officer, Mr. James Bedijo Okumu appreciated the team for the great achievement, stating that, “It’s a sign of blessing for Gulu, I urge everybody to rally behind the team so that next time they emerge the first.”

Ceaser Akena, the Gulu acting education officer, call for cooperation from everybody so that this year’s competition winner comes back to Gulu.
