School business in Aleda primary school is paralyzed, “off” for some days over external interference.

Aleda primary school in Aleda village, Paibona sub-county in Gulu district has been closed, with teaching staffs also temporarily laying down their tools.

This is in protest of night attack on one of their fellow staff.

Andrew Obwona , the head teacher told our reporter on phone this morning that: “The school activities is currently halted after a mentally confused man identified as Joel Opio broke into the house of one of my staff at night.”

Obwona explained further that: “A 36 year old mentally confused man was reported to have broken into the house of one of his staff identified as Goreti Lagum before going away with 10kg of maize flour, 8 kg of simsim paste, and other household items.”

The head teacher further stated that this is now the second time such incident is happening to his staff.

The first one he told TND News took place some years back after the same Joel Opio assaulted his teacher only identified as Nyangwesu, leading to his transfer.

Aleda LC1 chairperson, Mr. Walter Okwera, confirmed the development, stating that Joel Opio who had just returned from the 3 years imprisonment always moves with panga, knife and an axe.

“He’s terrorizing the community and this calls for urgent action from the higher authority,” the local leader adds.

Ceaser Lukwiya, the chairperson of Parents Teachers Association (PTA) condemned the act of the “madman” stating that: “We are going for an urgent meeting to look for solutions.”
