Man, 45, murdered in Amuru over land

Land conflicts in Amuru district, northern Uganda each day comes with different episodes, with mysterious death now being registered frequently.

Achire George Alex, 45, a resident of Otwe Town Council in Amuru district was murdered after land contest on Wednesday 26, February, 2019.

However, the size of the land could not be availed to our reporter.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa regional Police spoksperson told our reporter that police have visited the scene of crime, photographs taken and sketch plan drawn.

Mr. Okema asked the community to desist from revenge attacks.

The clashes has left eight huts set on fire, several chicken killed and a number of household items looted by mob.

“Inquiries into the matter  have commenced, two suspects already in police custody to help in investigation,” Okema told TND News.

According to Okema, other three victims have been taken to hospital for treatment.

The body of the deceased was  driven by police to Gulu main hospital mortuary  for postmortem, he adds.

Community policing has been done at the scene of crime and situation is under control.

The land saga between the deceased family and neighborhood has been in Court since 2005, and both parties could not wait any longer for final ruling, whose date hasn’t been fixed yet.

The criminal case was registered at Amuru Central Police Station under CRB: 76/2019.
