Dokolo DPC in high pressure, accuses locals of frustrating police

Plagued Dokolo District Police Commander has lashed at “his town dwellers” and accused them of frustrating police in fighting criminal gangs in the district, especially in the peri-urban areas.

Jimton Aguta who is facing a call for resignation from the business community, vehemently denies being incompetent but instead, accuses the locals of denying police investigators critical security leads that are vital in curbing crime.

“Some of you know the hide outs of these criminals, you even sit and dine with them in drinking joints, yet you don’t c care to inform the police,” riled DPC Aguta says.

He has now asked the community to ensure they are a listening post for the police because without team work, criminals will take advantage of such loopholes to wreck noxious disaster.

The acrimony that is building up between the police and the community follows the incident where unknown gun-wielding criminals shot dead Susan Amenya, a business woman on Kaberamaido road on Saturday night.

For that, the business community is threatening to petition the Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola to axe DPC Jimton Aguta. He is being accused of failing to provide security in the area.

The idea came in an emergency meeting convened by the angry business community in the aftermath of Susan Amenya’s murder.

Business community and locals observed that police has in the past failed to investigate and apprehend suspects involved in a number of criminal activities.

They soon cited the robbery of five vehicles in Dokolo district. One of the stolen vehicles belonged to the Uganda Electoral Commission.
Abel Ekol, is the chairperson of the Business Community in Dokolo town and is among the leaders passionately pushing for the exit of DPC Aguta.

“We want him removed. He has completely failed to take charge and command security in the district,” Mr. Ekol he told this contemporary news website.

Lawrence Egole, the Dokolo Resident District Commissioner and LC5 chairperson – Fedrick Odongo Kungfu-master has come out to the rescue of Aguta.

The pair is calling for clam from the community and assured them that security is on top of the game.
