In 10 months, 10 guns stolen, 1 deadliest missing from Aswa region – Police

Kitgum – Police in Aswa region has recovered two more guns in few days. Their registration numbers are UG POL 563619899-10849 and UG POL 0541487-07506 with 3 round of ammunition.

The guns were stolen from Agoro police outpost in Kitgum district on the 17, September, 2018. Police say four guns were stolen from the same police outpost without clear motives.

These guns was recovered from one identified as only Okimbo, a resident of West land ward in Kitgum municipality. Okimbo – according to police is still at large.

In an operation, one Apiyo, Ochola Samuel and Ikwera Nono were arrested by police and are still in custody as investigation intensifies.

So far, seven [7] guns have been recovered from Kitgum municipality and three [3] from Gulu district. On Monday, another gun was retrieved from Tegot in Gulu, bringing Gulu total to three.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa region police spokesman confirmed the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of stolen guns from Agoro police outpost.

Okema adds that police is searching for a deadly gun stolen in recent weeks, calling on the public to report and suspicious person.
