Oyam – The Ngai Youth Boda-boda Association vice chairperson, Ojok Tomas is under police custody at Ngai police outpost.
Ongom was apprehended over allegation that he stole items worth millions of shillings from a person he was transporting using his motorcycle from Omoro town to Ngai town board on Saturday.
On Sunday morning, Ojok was arrested from his home in Ngai town board – Oyam district.
The person he was transporting has been identified as Saron Alaba – a traveler who works with a Non Governmental Organization in Lira district.
According to Saron Alaba, in her statement at Ngai Police outpost, she narrated that Ojok decided to grab her bag less than 2km after Omoro town.
Mrs Alaba added that the boda boda man told her that they could not continue with the journey because his motorcycle was having dreadful mechanical problem.
It’s at this moment, according to her that Ojok grabbed her back bag and speed off wildly with it while riding a ‘mechanically problematic bike’
“Inside the bag I had a good computer laptop, shilling 200,000, one smart phone and other valuable documents,” she said.
“Immediately i reported the matter to Ngai boda boda office and to Ngai police outpost,” she told this news website on Sunday.
A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity confirms to this contemporary news website that Ojok is under their proper security custody.
“We are still carrying investigations on him and if found guilty, he will be charged according to the law,” he said.
In August and September this year, Ngai town board registered soaring criminal offenses.
A police preliminary data showed that one taxi and five motorcycles were stolen and no suspect[s] was arrested.
