Emma Promotionz and Marketing Agency, a company hired by Bobi Wine to manage his Kyalenga Album Launch has been advised to call off the music show.
The show was initially scheduled for 20, October at Mandela National stadium – Namboole.
The advice was issued in a letter dated 16, October, 2018 by Asuman Mugenyi, Director of Operations on behalf of Police chief, IGP Martin Okoth Ochola.
According to Asuman, Namboole management has availed police with a matrix of events they plan to host from September [last month] to January, 2019.
Mr Asuman adds that details provided by Namboole management does not include Bobi’s.
Referring to the letter dated 2, October, this year seeking for security at the event, Police chief advised thus: “You are therefore, advised to call off the music show since you have not made any arrangements with the management of Mandela National Stadium to host the music show on the 20th day of October, 2018.”
But Serugu Emma, the marketing agency manager is not happy with the Uganda Police Force saying it has deliberately decided to block the concert.
“By the time the Arua chaos came about, we had already bought off the Kyalenga song and we were supposed to have the concert at Cricket Oval, Lugogo but we later changed to Namboole,” Serugo laments.
Meanwhile, Jamil Ssewanyana, the managing director of Namboole National Stadium was earlier quoted to have said the concert organizers had booked the venue for 20th October and that they only required police clearance.
According to Ssewanyana, the stadium had capacity to host more than one event provided they were cleared by the police.
Recently, police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said police would allow the concert to go on but warned that they expected Bobi Wine on stage performing but not Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
Popularly known as Bobi wine, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu is the Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East is a known critic of president Museveni both within and on international media platforms.
