The Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Bakireke Nambooze has been charged with incitement to commit an offense.
The DP Lawmaker, Nambooze appeared before Nakawa Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning, few minutes after being summoned by Police.
Prosecution alleged that on June 9, 2018, Nambooze uttered and posted in media a message inciting the public to attack and murder public figures however well guarded since government could not secure them.
She pleaded not guilty to the offense.
Nakawa Grade One Magistrate Noah Sajjabi granted her a non cash bail of shs.5 million and her sureties were as well bonded a non cash bail of shs.10 million.
The case was adjourned to 27 September for mention.

On June 8 this year, the then Arua Municipality MP, Ibrahim Abiriga was gunned down alongside his bodyguard who was also his brother while approaching his home in Kawanda, north of Capital, Kampala.
His [their] killers, up to now are still at large but State alleges that Nambooze, using her posts in the media could have incited the ‘public’ to kill pro age limit removal Lawmaker.
After Abiriga was gunned down – on the 9, June, 2018, government chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa blamed opposition for the brutal killing of their colleague.
Addressing Ugandans live on UBC Television on Heroes day fete held in Kukumiro district, Nankabirwa said: “Those against NRM could have been his killers,” she claimed. Adding quickly: “Those against him in opposition could be his killers.”
