Wadri’s Lawyer accuses police of denying him access to see his client


Detained Arua Municipality MP Elect Kassiano Wadri and under military trial Bobi Wine during campaigns in Arua.

One of the Lawyers preparing to represent detained Arua Municipality MP aspirant, Kassiano Wadri  – Jimmy Madira, says he has been denied access to his client by Police.

He says he has been denied any opportunity of meeting his client since Monday when he was arrested and taken to Arua Central Police Station.

Kassiano Wadri is among other key politicians, among them the Kyandondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who were arrested yesterday [Monday] and today [Tuesday] and detained at different police facilities in the country.

Wadri was arrested from Hotel Pacific together with other Lawmakers like Gerald Karuhanga, Francis Zaake and Paul Mwiru.

The above legislators join other thirty people who were also arrested following Monday horrible political environment in Arua town. President Museveni’s posh car was smashed.

On Tuesday evening, in Arua, Madira told Journalists that he received a phone call from Wadri’s relatives to offer him legal services.

Mr Madira further says he has been denied seeing Wadri since Tuesday, 7am when he arrived at Arua CPS.

He told journalists he doesn’t know reasons for Wadri’s arrest and detention by police. 

At the start of the day, Tuesday, RPC North Western Region, Jonathan Musinguzi confirmed the arrest of above named politicians, refusing to give more information.

Wednesday by-election has been dented by political turmoil but the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson; Byamukama Mugenyi told media on Tuesday evening that the scheduled reelection won’t be cancelled.
