Bishop Gakumba warns youth on abortion

Omoro-The Bishop of northern Uganda Diocese, Johnson Gakumba has warned the youth of northern Uganda about the criminal acts of abortion.

The Man of God says the act is against the Church teaching.

Bishop gave the warning during his recent visits to St. Luke Church of Uganda; Opit parish in Omoro district.

Bishop Gakumba warned Christian that the Church has constantly condemned abortion which is a direct and purposeful killing of unborn baby.

“Church believes that all life is Sacred from conception until natural death arranged by God. The taking of human life whether born or unborn is spiritually and morally wrong,” Bishop warned.

Walter Bonny Okodi who’s the parish priest of Lakwana parish, Omoro district called on youth not to look at abortion as a solution to their problem but rather seek advice from Church leaders.

He also called on parents to talk to their children always about the dangers of abortion which he says puts at risk the lives of mother and unborn child.

Geoffery Akena, one of the health officers at Opit Health Center III advices youth to be more active in Church and joining her various associations.

“Many girls who conceive in their teenage ages die as a result of abortion or other health complication with many ending up as victims of fistula complication,” Mr Akena says.

He appealed to parents to stop teenage marriages and abortion in the community.
