Man who killed his wife and dumped her body in pit, arrested

A Lira based boda boda man is under police custody on allegation of killing his wife late last month.

Paul Okello, a resident of Gweng-abara village, Angwet- Angwet parish in Adekokwok Sub-county, Lira district is alleged to have murdered his wife on 28 June, 2018.

After killing her, he dumped her body in the pit latrine.

David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga regional police spokesperson confirmed Okello’s arrest on Friday.

Mudong says the body of Atoo Ketty, a primary school teacher at Egar primary school in Dokolo district was retrieved from the pit latrine by the Police Fire and Emergency Rescue Services.

“The suspect murdered his wife while at their home in Gweng Abara village before fleeing to Dokolo district,” he added.

According to Mudong, the suspect, after killing his wife, went on to occupy the deceased’s room at Egar primary school teacher´s quarters.

He was later apprehended by police in Dokolo and taken to Dokolo Central Police Station.

“He is pending transfers to Lira Central Police Station where a case of murder under CRB 2246/ 2018 has been preferred against him,” Police publicist told this news website.

Meanwhile, postmortem is yet to be conducted on the deceased body to ascertain the cause of her death.
