One inmate from Patongo Government Prison in Agago district has been shot dead while another sustained gunshot injuries on the leg.
Reports say the convicts were trying to escape from custody this morning through flooded Agago River.
The Prison warden who was giving a chase after the inmates has been admitted to the nearby health facility after drowning in the River in an attempt to recapture the prisoners.
This incident happened when six prisoners were taken out of prison to do some farm work (private) outside the prison premises.
It’s after that when three of them dared to escape by running towards the flooded River Agago with the intention to swim across.
The dead inmate, whose name was not readily available, was reportedly shot at while he attempted to swim to escape
